Evidize · Practical hiring example
A client review brief that explains the recommendation

performance.

1. The agreed client brief
- Client
- Cedarbridge Systems — fictional example
- Role
- Systems Engineer
- Evaluation focus
- Incident diagnosis, infrastructure changes, and communication during service disruption.
- Review stage
- Recruiter recommends a technical follow-up; the client has not made a hiring decision.
2. The evidence behind the recommendation
All evidence below is invented for illustration. The structure separates observed or reported evidence from
interpretation and unanswered questions.
Criterion: Diagnose an unfamiliar incident
Candidate A · Interview note: Described checking recent changes and service health,
reproducing the failure, and isolating a dependency before selecting a mitigation.
Recruiter interpretation: The answer presented a sequence the technical interviewer can
probe.
Still to confirm: Which actions the candidate personally owned and how they validated
recovery.
Criterion: Make a controlled infrastructure change
Candidate A · Interview note: Discussed peer review, a limited rollout, rollback criteria,
and a post-change check.
Recruiter interpretation: The example addressed change controls relevant to the brief.
Still to confirm: Evidence of applying those controls in a production environment
comparable to the client’s.
Criterion: Communicate during service disruption
Candidate A · Interview note: Explained how updates separated confirmed impact, current
actions, and the next update time.
Recruiter interpretation: The structure could support useful stakeholder updates.
Still to confirm: Ask for a concrete example of a difficult tradeoff communicated to a
nontechnical owner.
3. Compare evidence without hiding gaps
Candidate A: Has interview examples against all three criteria; ownership and comparable
production scale still need clarification.
Candidate B: Has résumé evidence of infrastructure tooling, but no completed structured
interview for these criteria yet. The missing interview should not be treated as a negative performance
result.
Recommendation for client review: Schedule Candidate A’s technical follow-up and complete
Candidate B’s structured interview before making the final comparison.
4. Make the next action accountable
- Recruiter
- Confirm the client’s priorities and arrange the remaining interviews.
- Technical interviewer
- Probe personal ownership, production scale, and the recovery-validation example.
- Client decision-maker
- Review the completed evidence and agree whether either candidate advances.
5. Check the information before sharing
Include only permitted information, identify its source, and separate factual records from reviewer judgment.
Apply the agency’s privacy and retention requirements, confirm the recipient, and remove unnecessary personal
data.
